A rookie triumph in Agadir: Eisenbeis wins the Madaëf Golfs Open

Madaëf Golfs Open 2026

A birdie on the final hole secured Germany's Frederik Eisenbeis his first Pro Golf Tour title at the Madaëf Golfs Open at Tazegzout Golf, with a score of -10. The rookie won by one stroke, finishing ahead of Slovenian Jaka Babnik (-9) after rounds of 69, 68 and 69.

Agadir, Morocco – The Pro Golf Tour's return to Morocco could hardly have been more thrilling. Heading into the final 18th hole of the Madaëf Golfs Open’s final round, Frederik Eisenbeis and Jaka Babnik were tied. The par-5 hole presented both golfers, who were playing in the final group alongside French amateur Elias Cocheteux, with another promising birdie opportunity. However, only Eisenbeis, who plays at the Marienburger Golf Club, was able to capitalise on it, decisively pulling ahead of the competition. With a total score of ten under par, Eisenbeis ultimately secured his first Pro Golf Tour title. The 23-year-old had already won Q-School at Fleesensee last year.

'A very relaxed round'
Despite all the tension surrounding the title race, the winner remained completely calm at Tazegzout Golf in the end. ‘Overall, it was a very relaxed round. I started with two birdies, which gave me momentum right away. After that, I played a lot of pars, consistently hit the fairways and greens, and mostly needed two putts. The key was that I didn’t make any mistakes — that helps enormously in situations like this.” Eisenbeis remained bogey-free throughout the final day, recording three birdies and 15 pars — a very consistent performance for a rookie in such a situation. ‘Of course, I was nervous, but in a positive way. You train your whole life for moments like this.”

Although this is his first season on the Pro Golf Tour, Eisenbeis certainly has a winning mentality. "A win was definitely one of my major goals. I approach every tournament with the intention of winning, and I know I have what it takes. I won Q-School last year, as well as a tournament in Switzerland. That gives me confidence. I know I belong here and that I can compete at the top level.”

Morocco impresses
Not only did the main sponsor, Madaëf, ensure excellent conditions for the first Pro Golf Tour event in Morocco after a five-year hiatus, but the winner was also blown away by the host and the venue. “The course is a dream: right by the sea, in great condition, and challenging. Even when things aren’t going so well, you look out at the sea and everything feels right again. It was great off the course, too — the people were very friendly, and we had some wonderful experiences. We went to the beach, had meals and walked around — just a really good time.”

This victory sees Eisenbeis move up to seventh place in the Order of Merit. Kristof Ulenaers (Belgium) remains in first place, followed by Dario Antonisse and Koen Kouwenaar (both from the Netherlands) in second and third place respectively. Mauro Gilardi (Switzerland) and Nicolas Horder (Germany) follow in fourth and fifth place respectively. After today's final round in Agadir, the players have just one day off before the next event in the Pro Golf Tour Océan 2026 series, which takes place in Morocco from 14–16 May.
