Liberec/Czech Republic − “It’s fantastic that we can offer our players the chance to continue the tournament season already at the start of May", says Rainer Goldrian, Managing Director of the Pro Golf Tour. And on an outstanding course: the Ypsilon Golf Resort Liberec is not just considered to be one of the most beautiful and challenging golf courses in the Czech Republic but is even on a par with international counterparts. The professionals have a variety-packed parkland course to tackle on over 6,102 metres which calls for precision above all. The English designer Keith Preston placed the course that opened in 2006 in a hilly landscape with a great deal of tact, skilfully added water hazards and equipped it with spacious practice areas.

The editors of the Czech edition of the Golf Digest magazine even awarded the course “Golf Course of the Year 2006” in the year it opened. The quality of the fairways and greens in particular is excellent, which the players of the Pro Golf Tour were already able to see for themselves once before by the way: in 2007 they were guests at the “Olympus Classic” at the Ypsilon Golf Resort, back then Max Kramer from Fulda won with 5 under par (70, 71, 70). The year after players of the European Challenge Tour were also guests in Liberec where the Englishman Seve Benson won the tournament in a play-off between himself, the Spaniard Rafael Cabrera Bello and the South African Branden Grace; they were sharing first place after four rounds with -16 (par 71). A round of 64 (total -7) was recorded as the Challenge Tour players’ best result.

An outstanding course setup and exciting tournament is therefore guaranteed when 156 players in total tee off for the first round of the Ypsilon Cup 2016 by CzechOne on 4 May. The number of Order of Merit tournaments on the Pro Golf Tour therefore increases to 19 this year, the prize money being awarded in 2016 is now EUR 590,000. 18 events are endowed with EUR 30,000 each, and at the season finale, the Castanea Resort Pro Golf Tour Championship 2016, there is even EUR 50,000 to win.
