Antoine Schwartz triumphs after French playoff

CEEVEE Leather Open 2015

Finally it was a matter between the Frenchmen: Antoine Schwartz from Paris and his good friend Alexis Anghert from Benerville-sur-Mer shared 1st place after 54 holes of the CEEVEE Leather Open in Germany with both scoring a total 8 under par on the par 72 golf course of GC Glashofen-Neusaß. Making birdies on holes 17 and 18 in their final rounds both players prooved excellent skills and moved on to a French playoff. In the end it was Antoine Schwartz who triumphed on the first extra hole when he made a birdie from about 8 meters whilst Anghert with his birdie try from 7 meters missed the hole by a few inches and had to accept runner-up position. Third place went to German Jonas Kölbing who played 6 under par in total.

Walldürn-Neusaß/Germany − "I felt pretty comfortable with my game during the last weeks", Schwartz said after receiving the trophy and the 5000 euro cheque. "But I was not scoring very well in the tournaments." So the 26 year old and his coach Guillaume Biaugeaud decided to change tactics: "I played much more aggressive this week and also intensified my preparation before every round." Schwartz showed up one hour earlier on each tournament day, checked pin positions and made an exact game plan for every single stroke. "This way I had easier shots into the green and also easier puttlines." The intensified preparation paid off with his second victory on the Pro Golf Tour − in 2013 he had won the Red Sea Ain Sokhna Classic in Egypt.

With this win Schwartz moves up to 7th place in the Pro Golf Tour Order of Merit. New No. 1 of the rankings is German Philipp Mejow who changed place with Dutchman Reinier Saxton.
