Ain Sokhna/Egypt – With an impressing finish Christopher Mivis from Belgium could have secured himself the trophy of the Red Sea Ain Sokhna Classic 2016. With four birdies on the last four holes of the tournament, Mivis set an end to a thrilling final, where it looked like, that many players could win. By playing rounds of 69, 72 and 65 strokes the Belgian scored a total of 10 under par. Three strokes less than his opponents Max Kramer from Germany (70, 73, 66/ -7), Austrian Bernard Neumayer (66, 73, 70/ -7) and Michael Kraaij from the Netherlands(68 ,74, 67/ -7) who finished as shared second.

„It’s great to be here again“, said Christopher Mivis, who had already finished the Pro Golf Tour as overal-second in 2013, „because the course is amazing, the tournament is well organized and I really enjoyed it!“ On the magnificent par-72 course of the Sokhna Golf Club the Belgian was able to profit from his experiences as a Challenge Tour-player, as he kept calm and stayed focused in the end. „My long game didn’t went too well, but the putts were very good“, the 27-year-old noticed.  The final round of the Red Sea Ain Sokhna Classic 2016 nearly went perfect for Mivis: He achieved nine birdies on the last 18 holes - as much as on the first two rounds combined. Even though he also played two bogeys it was still enough for him to capture the lead at the last moment.

But it didn’t look like the Belgian would win all the time: Austrian Bernard Neumayer was leading after the first round after he had achieved a 66. Even a round of 73 the next day wasn’t enough for him to lose the first position of the leaderboard. But the finish of Mivis was too much for him to keep his ranking. In the end the 26-year-old Austrian shared the second rank with Dutchman Michael Kraaij and German Max Kramer, who managed to shot a hole-in-one on the first day.
