The GRAND FINALE of the Pro Golf Tour in Adendorf

Castanea Resort Championship 2018

A golf course in perfect condition, 18 pins in challenging positions, the protagonists ready for the mighty showdown: It is arranged for the grand finale of the Pro Golf Tour 2018 at the Castanea Resort in Adendorf in Germany. From the 24th to the 26th of September, the 72 best players of the season to date determine the champion of the last tournament of the season, the 2018 overall winner and the five risers for the European Challenge Tour 2019. The final tournament of the 2018 season is endowed with a record prize money of 50,000 euros, and because the winner alone pockets 7800 euros and just as many points for the Pro Golf Tour Order of Merit, it is still completely undecided who will finally hold the overall winner's cup in his hands and who will secure the much sought after promotion tickets.

Adendorf/Germany – "The biggest week in European Golf!" This is how Ian Randell, chief executive of the PGAs of Europe, headlined his newsletter at the end of last week. Of course, this highlights the Ryder Cup in Paris, where from Friday the best players in the world compete against each other in matchplay format for the purpose of continental comparison. But even the best players in the Pro Golf Tour will face the decisive tournament of the year in this last week of September, the GRAND FINALE at the Castanea Resort in Adendorf in Germany just outside Lüneburg. At the Castanea Resort Championship 2018 the players of the Pro Golf Tour traditionally identify the overall winner of the season as well as the five players who will procede to the next higher league, the European Challenge Tour.

With the two Scots Craig Howie and Chris Robb in positions 1 and 3, the French Mathieu Decottignies Lafon in 2nd place and the Pole Mateusz Gradecki and the German Hinrich Arkenau at 4 and 5, the promotion places are currently mixed international. But not one of these five is allowed to feel secure at his ranking. All of them can win the prestigious overall victory of the Pro Golf Tour 2018 by a triumph or an absolute top result in Adendorf. But at the same time Gradecki and Arkenau can also be ousted from the top five. The current leaders will therefore try to get absolute best performances again, because the immediate pursuers are only a few points behind in the ranking - and accordingly highly motivated.

Above all, the Czech Ondrej Lieser in sixth place, German Jonas Kölbing in 7th place and Swiss Benjamin Rusch in 8th position still have very good chances to jump on the train towards the 2019 Challenge Tour by scoring an absolute top result in the last tournament of the season. And even up to No. 12, the French Antoine Schwartz, overall winner of the Pro Golf Tour 2016, all players can still expect very reasonable opportunities to make it into the top 5 of the final 2018 Pro Golf Tour rankings. Excitement until the last putt is therefore once again guaranteed in Adendorf, and spectators can expect high class golf on all three tournament days - there is no cut.

High quality final

"We have had a very good season with excellent sports performance," says Rainer Goldrian, managing director of the Pro Golf Tour. "I have no doubt that we will once again be offered a dignified finale at the excellent and selective championship course in Adendorf, where the best players will emphasize that they are well prepared for their rise to the European Challenge Tour". A final that will undoubtedly give a fantastic start to the "Biggest week in European Golf".

Admission to the big tour finale 2018 is free on all days, spectators are most welcome.
