Season 2015: Overall victory for Philipp Mejow

Castanea Resort Pro Golf Tour Championship 2015

It was a great season! Three double-tournament winners, two triple tournament winners and a thrilling battle for the overall tour victory. Today on the final day of the last Pro Golf Tour tournament in 2015, four players still had the chance to end the season as the tour champion. But on the par-72 course of the Golf Resort Adendorf in Germany the first of the Order of Merit, Philipp Mejow from Berlin, was able to defend his leadership. He finished the event as second, which brought him 4440.00 points. This is enough for the German to secure the overall victory. The Swiss Benjamin Rusch, who was ranked as fourth in the Pro Golf Tour Order of Merit, won the event with 15 under par, 5 strokes ahead of Mejow! This achievement leads Rusch to a second place on the Tour’s final Leaderboard.

Adendorf - With an amazing round of 65 (-7) Rusch had started very well into the Castanea Resort Pro Golf Tour Championship 2015. One stroke ahead of his nearest opponent that day, Matthieu Decottignies-Lafon from France, who was the first, already in June, to win two tournaments this season. The following day his advance became bigger: After having played a 67 he laid 12 under par and was already six strokes in front of Decottignies Lafon and the Germans Mejow and Hinrich Arkenau.

He made it clear on the final day of the event: Even though he started with a bogey on hole 2 he corrected his fault by scoring birdies on hole 5,6 and 8. After 9 holes Rusch was seven strokes in front of his opponents. Mejow once again proved his strong mentality: After a birdie on hole 3, he had to write down two bogeys on his scorecard which made him fall back onto a shared 5th place.

When the players reached the 18th hole Arkenau, Mejow and Decottignies Lafon still shared the second rank two with -9, while Rusch needed strokes less. But Mejow putted to birdie, which made him single second of the tournaments leaderboard. Well deserved, Benjamin Rusch won his third tournament in 2015. Next year, we’ll see him play on the European Challenge Tour.

After all tournaments are played Philipp Mejow is the overall champion by leading the Order of Merit with 35,310.72 ranking points. He had won two tournaments in 2015: The Gut Bissenmoor Classic and the Red Sea Ain Sokhna Classic. But there are four other players who also won twice, two of them, Benjamin Rusch and German Martin Keskari, even three times. But Mejow continuously scored excellent throughout the whole season. Beside his victories he also stood incredible eleven out of twenty times in the Top 10 of a tournament, three times as second. By winning that last tournament Rusch now is the second of the Order of Merit with 32,537.00 ranking points followed by Dutchman Reinier Saxton and German Martin Keskari.

Teemu Bakker from Finnland was able to defend his 5th rank and with that also the guaranteed promotion to the European Challenge Tour. Seven other players were trying to reach that position but Bakkers rounds of 72, 73 and 70 were enough for the man from Finnland.
