On the first extra-hole of the playoff Marco Iten from Suisse secured himself the first trophy of his career as a professional. El Jadida/Morocco – „I’m just super happy! It feels great to win – especially on such a difficult course. Those three days took a huge amount of energy, particularly on the mental aspect.“ Alleviated and satisfied Marco Iten accepted the trophy of the fifth event of the Pro Golf Tour season 2017. For the 26-year-old from Zurich it’s the first victory as a professional; in 2016 Iten, back then still an amateur, had won the Pro Golf Tour Qualifying School and by that, the tourcard for the whole current season. „On this course, it was necessary to keep calm, concentrated and avoid as much bogeys as possible“, Iten said. Only on two or three holes you can be sure to play par or birdie, the others will punish even the smallest fault to a bogey.

Maximilian Laier from Leipzig had to make this experience, as he missed the 18th green on the first hole of the playoff, causing him to finish as second of the leadboard. After his par on that hole, Marco Iten rejoices about the win, 5000 Euro prize money and as much ranking points, making him the new number one of the Pro Golf Tour Order of Merit. The third rank goes to Austrian Manuel Trappel who noted 5 over par after three round, followed by Portuguese Pedro Figueiredo with 6 over par.

A challenging layout, hard, fast and small greens, advanced pin positions and strong wind: The excellent ocurse of the exclusive resort Pullman El Jadida Royal Golf & Spa in El Jadida was the winner of the duell with the Pro Golf Tour professionals. Only four participants of the Open Madaef were able to play a round under par. The next event will start on March 8 with the first round of the Open Royal Golf Anfa Mohammedia 2017 in Mohammedia.
