Title defense: Ben Parker wins again in 2016

Open Royal Golf Anfa Mohammedia 2016

With a flawless round of 66 the English Golfprofessional Ben Parker successfully retained his trophy of the Open Royal Golf Anfa Mohammedia. After three rounds on the par-71-course of the Mohammedia Royal Golf Club in Morocco the 28-year-old had scored 7 under par (69, 71, 66), one stroke ahead of Austrian Manuel Trappel (69, 71, 67).

Mohammedia/Morocco − With an impressing last round Ben Parker from England could secure himself the trophy of the Open Royal Golf Anfa Mohammedia 2016. Two birdies on the last three holes of round 3 brought him in the lead, only moments before the event came to an end. Even though he “only started” as shared ninth on day 3.  A round of 66 with five birdies and not even a single bogey made the 28-year-old retain the trophy he had already won the year before. By playing rounds of 69, 71 and 66 strokes the Englishman scored a total of 7 under par, one hit less than his Austrian opponent Manuel Trappel (69, 71, 67).

"My golf was not as strong as it was last year but I managed my game quite well and I am very happy to have won this tournament", said Parker, who uses the Pro Golf Tour events as practice for his Challenge Tour season. “While I was playing my A-game in 2015 it was just my C- or D-game this time but to have won makes me very confident for the Challenge Tour event in Egypt next week." His goals for the 2016 season: "I definitely want to win on the Challenge Tour and I definitely want to try to promote to the 2017 European Tour!"

Manuel Trappel from Austria made a surprising second rank. The 26-year-old made his second-best result as a pro after having needed only one more hit than Challenge-Tour-player Parker. The third place of the tournaments leaderboard is shared by two Frenchmen: Antoine Schwartz from Paris and Mathieu from Lias.

The Open Royal Golf Anfa Mohammedia has been the last out of six tournaments that the Pro Golf Tour will host in Morocco in 2016. The tour will continue in Czech on May fourth at the Ypsilon CUP 2016 by CzechOne on the beautiful course of the Ypsilon Golf Resort Liberec. But before this the Challenge Tour-event “Red Sea Egyptian Challenge presented by Hassan Allam Properties” will take place from April 20 to 23 in Ain Sokhna, Egypt. Many well-known faces like last year’s overall-champion Philipp Mejow will participate but also Christopher Mivis and Antoine Schwartz, who earned wildcards by winning the two Pro Golf Tour tournaments in January in Ain Sokhna.
