Castanea Resort Pro Golf Tour Championship

From September 26 to 28 the big finale of the Tour, the Castanea Resort Pro Golf Tour Championship 2016 will take place on the magnificent course of the Golfresort Adendorf. Adendorf/Germany − For German Philipp Mejow October 1 2015 surely is a date, that he surely won’t get out of his head soon. On that day, the man from Berlin secured himself the overall victory of the Pro Golf Tour by ending up as second in Adendorf. After 22 tournaments, Mejow had scored 35.310,72 ranking points, more than any of his opponents. This year, Mejow plays on the European Challenge Tour, just like his compatriot Martin Keskari, Reinier Saxton from the Netherlands, Swiss Benjamin Rusch and Teemu Bakker from Finnland. All of them earned their slots by qualifying on the Pro Golf Tour. But as Saxton also managed to qualify via CT Q-School, other Dutchman Robin Kind, who had scored the first 59 on the Pro Golf Tour since Martin Kaymer did 2006, got Saxtons tourcard as he was ranked 6th.

But going into the final tournament had been different last year compared to 2016: The first four out of five leading positions on the Order of Merit had already scored so much, that they couldn’t have their rankings. Only the fifth rank was still in sight for the other participants of the finale. But less than a month until the 2016 PGT Championship, everyone ranked higher than the 22nd still has a chance to get a tourcard.

Currently Frenchman Antoine Schwartz is ranked first with 21.555,50 Punkten points, with a small advantage to Germance Julian Kunzenbacher (21.363,20 points). He is followed by Christopher Mivis from Belgium (19.961,92 points), Germans Max Kramer (17.495,83 points) and Patrick Kopp (15.680,80 points). In addition, both Frenchmen Johann Lopez Lazaro and Mathieu Fenasse, and two-time-winner 2016 Benedict Staben from Germany are only a few points behind.

The winner will receive 7500 Punkte, 25000 more than at the other tour events during the regular season. If the better ranked players won’t score, even Englishman Ben Parker who’s ranked 21st will have the possibility to reach the fifth rank. Looks like it’s going to be an exciting tournament!

On Monday, September 29, the Castanea Resort Pro Golf Tour Championship 2015 will start. The admission is free, visitors are welcome. If there’s no possibilty to follow the event on-site, check out our Livescoring and our social media accounts.
