First victory for Maximilian Röhrig

KOSAIDO Düsseldorf Open 2015

It was exciting til the last putt: Benjamin Rusch from Switzerland was ranked first from the beginning of the tournament until round three. A double-bogey by Rusch on hole 10 gave the 23 year-old German Maximilian Röhrig the opportunity to move ahead of Rusch. But at the 17th hole Röhrig played another bogey. With both players having scored a total of 4 under par after 54 holes it came to a play-off: On the first extra-hole Maximilian Röhrig won with par and celebrated his first win on the Pro Golf Tour.

Düsseldorf −It is his maiden win on the Pro Golf Tour 2015: After taking part in seven tournaments in this season the man from Neu-Isenburg near Frankfurt was able to finally defeat all his opponents at his 8th event. A close battle against the Rusch ended up in a play-off, after both players finished the third round with -4. On the first extra-hole Röhrig played par, which was enough to win the trophy. „It feels so great to win for the first time this year“, Röhrig said. He knows the situation to be in the last flight, this experience had helped him am lot: „I did some unnecessary faults on the back nine that shouldn’t have happened. But it did, that’s golf. Though, I didn‘t gave up, continued fighting and so I was able to perform a good putt on the 18th hole, which brought me into the play-off “, the winner said.

A triple bogey on the tournament’s last hole cost the lead for German Martin Keskari. If he had played par, he would have had the chance to celebrate his fourth victory in this season by participating the play-off.

However, his next chance for a victory will be next Monday: from 10th to 12th August, the premiere of the Sparkasse Open 2015 will take place on the course of the Bochumer Golfclub in Germany.
