Agadir/Morocco − A perfect season-debut for Moritz Lampert: With a total 16 under par and an amazing 7 stroke advantage the PGA Golfprofessional from Sandhausen/Germany secured himself the trophy of the Open Ocean 2016. On the par-71-course of the Golf de l’Ocean the 23-year-old scored rounds of 64, 68 and 65 strokes. Second place goes to Younes El Hassani from Morocco who played 9 under par after three rounds of 68. With each having scored a total 7 under par German Marcel Schneider and his fellow countryman Julian Kunzenbacher share the third rank.

For the third tournament of the 2016 season the Pro Golf Tour returned to Morocco. For the first time an event has been hosted on the excellent course of the Golf de l’Ocean which is located close to the city of Agadir. At perfect conditions Moritz Lampert, who uses the springtime tournaments of the Pro Golf Tour as preparation of his Challenge Tour-season, proved that he’s already in good shape. On the first day of the event Lampert scored a round of 64 with only a single bogey. “I’m surprised that it is going that well”, the 23-year-old says. “During the winter-break I worked very hard on my drives, with the wedges and on the putting. And everything works pretty solid.” A praise has also been given by the champion as well for the “cool, varying” course as for the Pro Golf Tour itself. Lampert, who participated the last time on the tour in 2014, noticed: “The Pro Golf Tour has developed pretty good, the starting fields are getting better every year and the courses are amazing. It’s not surprising that the tour is growing on popularity.”

That this course leads to excellent scores was easy to be seen on day 2: The Frenchman David Antonelli achieved ten birdies at only on bogey. After 18 holes the man from St. Etienne had played a fantastic round of 62 - a new course record! After two out of three rounds Antonelli and Lampert shared the first rank with 10 under par and everything looked like a close duell between the two. But while Lampert kept calm and focused, which made him score a 65, Antonelli wasn’t able to catch up as he needed so sign a 76 on his scorecard and felt back to 7th place.

After only a one day break the first round of the Open Tazegzout 2016 will start on Thursday. It is also a new tournament on the Pro Golf Tour schedule, and the players will face a new golf resort north of Agadir.
