Finn Fleer celebrates maiden win

Wroclaw Open 2017

Two times this season Finn Fleer was just about to win a tournament but finished as second in the end. At the Wroclaw Open in Poland it finally happened: With total 13 under par (61, 69, 67) the German won his first tournament on the Pro Golf Tour. With a birdie of hole 1 of the playoff Fleer succeeded against Polish professional Adrian Meronk.

Wroclaw/Poland – „I still can’t believe it! It just feels great.“ For Finn Fleer a wish came true: After he had already missed a victory twice this season, he secured himself his first Pro Golf Tour trophy on the Course of the Gradi Golf Club. In July at the Zell am See Kaprun Open presented by Salzburger Land Fleer finished second after German Alexander Herrmann and at the Gut Bissenmoor Classic in August, Swiss Marco Iten took over the lead in the last second of the tournament. „It’s great that my hard work finally pays of. Especially since I was so close to win the last times.“

A bogey on hole 18 nearly cost him his title at the last glance: „I thought I was in the lead with two shots and wanted to hit the ball far. Unfortunately it went far right and I couldn’t save the par.“ By that Fleer had to compete against Adrian Meronk from Poland, who also scored 13 under par, in a playoff. But a birdie on the first extra saved the trophy for him.

The German was especially impressed by the magnificent course of the Gradi Golf Club: „The course is much different than the others we played on this season. It has ist own charm because of ist natural layout. The best thing about the course are the greens, which are in a great condition.“

The victory in Breslau makes Fleer rise up five ranks. While he held rank 13 of the Order of Merit before the event, he’s now ranked as eigth with 15.823,22 points. Less than 2500 points are separating him from a promotion to the European Challenge Tour.

Fleer will get his chance to get into the Top 5 at the official tour final, which will take place from September 25 to 27 at the Golfresort Adendorf. At the Castanea Resort Championship 50.000 Euro prize money and as much ranking points will be on the line-
