Flawless Final: Horder Claims First Title

Haugschlag NÖ Open by perfect eagle 2025

First Pro Golf Tour title for Nicolas Horder after a thrilling final day in Austria.

by

Haugschlag, Austria – Nicolas Horder captured his first career victory on the Pro Golf Tour at the Haugschlag NÖ Open by perfect eagle 2025, shooting a bogey-free 65 in the final round to win by one stroke over Owen Edwards (Wales). For the Munich native, it’s his maiden win on the tour. Third place was shared by Christian Bräunig (Germany), Wouter de Vries (Netherlands), and Alan De Bondt (Belgium).

It was a thrilling title battle at Golfresort Haugschlag—so much so that even an ORF TV crew didn’t want to miss it. When the final groups headed to the back nine on Thursday, nine players were within just two shots of the lead. But while most contenders couldn’t gain ground—or even slipped back—during the closing stretch, Nicolas Horder remained impressively steady.

The 25-year-old took the lead with three birdies on the front nine, then picked up another stroke each on holes 12 and 13. His final birdie of the day came at the 16th. Horder, who played college golf at the University of Arkansas, held a slim advantage over the tight chasing pack. And even on the final holes, the 2023 Bavarian Champion made no mistakes. His bogey-free 65 was ultimately enough to secure the win by a single stroke over Owen Edwards, who had started the final day as the leader.

Gala Performance After Two Missed Cuts

"I'm really, really happy," said the tournament winner, who only suffered two dropped shots over the three rounds. "I've been in contention a few times before. That’s a good sign on one hand, but also a bit frustrating. Today I was mentally focused from the first shot and stuck to my game plan. It feels amazing, especially since it was such a tight contest for much of the round."

Horder impressively bounced back from missed cuts in the recent events in Egypt. "There was also some bad luck in Ain Sokhna, so I didn’t let the results bother me too much. This week, almost everything clicked. I hit every fairway in the final round, struck my irons well into the greens, and made the putts I needed to make."

Golfresort Haugschlag once again provided a fantastic stage for the event. For over 15 years, the resort with its two championship courses has been a fixture on the Pro Golf Tour calendar. The special atmosphere is something players truly appreciate. "This is pure nature," Horder said. "The course is really varied and rewards good shots while punishing bad ones. Plus, the greens are of outstanding quality. A lot of clubs could take a leaf out of this one’s book."

In the Order of Merit, Horder climbs to sixth place. Lars van der Vight (Netherlands) remains at the top, followed by Filip Mruzek (Czech Republic). Martin Obtmeier, Carl Siemens (both Germany), and Clement Guichard (France) complete the top five.

After only a short break, the Pro Golf Tour players will tee it up again in Lower Austria. Starting May 6, 2025, the Raiffeisen Pro Golf Tour St. Pölten 2025 is on the schedule.
