German Sebastian Heisele wins the trophy and confidence

Open Tazegzout 2019

Good ball control, a very solid long game and some luck with the starting times: these were the ingredients with whose help the German Sebastian Heisele clinched the Open Tazegzout 2019 title. On the Golf Tazegzout par-72 course north of Agadir in Morocco, the 30-year-old from Dillingen played rounds of 71, 70 and 67, placing him two points ahead of Frenchman Antoine Rozner after 54 holes. Third is German Hurly Long who is also the new No. 1 of the Pro Golf Tour Order of Merit.

Agadir/Morocco - "Last week was meant for me to get back into the game. This week I had resolved to attack and compete with the leaders. The fact that it worked out so well right from the start is very satisfying!" Sebastian Heisele objectively analysed his two performances on the Pro Golf Tour in Morocco and took a very positive view in the end. He had missed the cut at the Open Ocean but had also played solidly there with a few slips though. He then successfully remedied this and was promptly rewarded for the training work over the last few months with his new coach Philippe de Busschere.

"I had a lucky draw and therefore hardly any problems with the wind," says Heisele. "Apart from that, I was able to control the ball very well and finally place it where I wanted it to be."

After a disappointing season on the European Tour, the professional from Dillingen lost his right to play in Europe's top league at the end of 2018. “I just hit the balls wildly around, especially from the tee." He changed his coach and prepared himself intensively for the 2019 season of the Challenge Tour during the winter. The victory at the Open Tazegzout on a challenging course is now a real boost to his self-confidence: "The tournament was good preparation for my goal to get back on the European Tour as soon as possible."

The new No. 1: Tour-rookie Hurly Long

While the Frenchman Antoine Rozner finished second in Agadir for the second time in a row, another German, Hurly Long, is getting better and better: third place at the Open Tazegzout is the sixth top ten result for the Tour rookie, taking him into first place in the Pro Golf Tour Order of Merit. He overtook his compatriot Hinrich Arkenau (9076.83) with 9514.67 points; Mateusz Gradecki (8580.33) from Poland is in third place.

The next opportunity to collect a bunch of Order of Merit points will be next week at the Open Michlifen 2019: the eighth and last tournament in the 2019 Morocco Series is endowed with a top prize money of 40,000 euros and the winner takes 6666.67 euros and points. The Pro Golf Tour and Moroccan Association du Trophée Hassan II de Golf, Morocco’s official golf organisation, are celebrating their ten-year successful partnership with the tour premiere at the Michlifen Golf & Resort in Ifrane.
