Hurly Long is the winner of the Raiffeisen Pro Golf Tour St. Pölten 2019. The German celebrated his maiden victory in style when he shot a fabulous final round with just 60 strokes in Neidling in Austria. Scoring 11 birdies on the par 71 golf course gave him a total -24 for three rounds (64+65+60) and in consequence another 5000 points for the Pro Golf Tour Order of Merit which he is leading now with 26.316.17 points. Finally the 24 year old was four shots ahead of the two Dutchmen Dylan Boshart and Robbie van West who shared the runner-up position with a total 20 under par.

Hurly Long was absolutely thrilled to take the trophy of the Raiffeisen Pro Golf Tour St. Pölten 2019 and the 5000 euro winner's check as well as the congratulations of his tour colleagues. With a total of six podium finishes he had already impressed this year, and also taken the lead in the overall ranking. What was missing was the first tournament success. Now he put this on his belt in the manner of a true champion. "I knew I would have to play a very low final round to win," said Long about his tactics for the last day. "This time I was mentally ready to take the title home. I just played my game, strategically but also aggressively - that's how I feel most comfortable. So far, I've always only managed my results from days 1 and 2. This time I also played my game on the last day - and finally won the tournament. "
With clever strategy and aggressive play: Eleven birdies in the final round
Because the fair course of the golf club St. Pölten rewarded precise shots and its true greens allowed birdies from the distance and also because Robbie van West, leader after the first two rounds, continued his excellent game, Hurly Long did go for a very low round with all his power and with all his excellent skills. Finally he made eleven birdies in a perfect round - the eagle putt at the 18th hole for a round of 59 missed the cup for just an inch.
Thanks to his outstanding final round, Long relegated the strong Dutchmen Dylan Boshart and Robbie van West to second place; Austrians Manuel Trappel and Maximilian Steinlechner, an amateur, took fourth and fifth place.
With 26,316.17 points, Hurly Long leads the Pro Golf Tour Order of Merit after 18 of 21 season tournaments; he is ahead of Dutchman Robbie van West (20,074.96 points) and German Allen John (19,325.37 points) ). The next opportunity to collect points and prize money will be provided at the Starnberg Open in Bavaria in August.
