Ain Sokhna/EgyptThe venue has a long tradition and offers players the ideal kick-off for the new tournament season: from the 14th to the 16th and from the 19th to the 21st of January 2020, Pro Golf Tour players will compete at the Sokhna Golf Club in Ain Sokhna on the Red Sea in Egypt. First, the title of the Red Sea Egyptian Classic 2020 will be available after three rounds of tournament golf. Two days later, the 54 hole competition of the Red Sea Ain Sokhna Classic 2020 will be on the program. Rainer Goldrian, together with Peter Zäh managing director of the Pro Golf Tour, said: "The start of the tour in Egypt allows us to offer our members good playing and tournament conditions again at the very beginning of the year."

Since the 2015 season, the 27-hole course in Ain Sokhna is the venue for the Pro Golf Tour's start of the new tournament year, and a win on the shore of the Red Sea has always been an indicator of a successful season to follow: Reinier Saxton and Philipp Mejow prevailed in Egypt in January 2015, finishing third at the end of the season. In 2016, Antoine Schwartz and Christopher Mivis clinched the titles of the two inaugural tournaments, and by the end of September, they qualified as the No. 1 and No. 3 (Mivis) for promotion to the 2017 European Challenge Tour. Ben Parker from England succeeded in 2017 and promoted to the European Challenge Tour 2018 after he had triumphed in Ain Sokhna.

Last year, the German Hinrich Arkenau took the title of Red Sea Egyptian Classic and he finally finished in sixth place in the 2019 final rankings. The Frenchman Stanislas Gautier secured himself the trophy of the Red Sea Ain Sokhna Classic 2019 and finished 10th in the overall ranking. So there is no doubt: The two tournaments in the dreamlike resort on the Red Sea have always been much more than just a first impression: In Egypt players lay the foundation for the entire further season.

96 coveted starting places

In both tournaments in Egypt up to 96 players can tee off, and each event is endowed with 30,000 euros prize money and the same amount of points for the Pro Golf Tour Order of Merit. Entry deadline for both competitions is 12:00 pm on Monday 16th December.
