PGT Premiere: Indoor tournament for professionals

Pro Golf Tour Virtual Challenge 2022 powered by TRACKMAN

The Pro Golf Tour starts the new golf season with a novelty: For the first time, an indoor tournament is part of the Satellite Tour's annual programme. Between 18 February and 9 March,  the participants of the "Pro Golf Tour Virtual Challenge 2022 powered by TrackMan" have to play two virtual tournament rounds on the course of the Stuttgarter Golf-Club Solitude. The time interval of the two rounds is freely selectable, but both rounds must be completed on a TrackMan simulator with at least Studio version 8. Members of the Pro Golf Tour and members of national PGAs, i.e. exclusively professionals, may participate. The prize money for the top 40 after 36 holes is 70 percent of the entry fee for the entire field; the entry fee is 100 euros per person. There are no ranking points, but in addition to the prize money, the tournament winner receives an invitation for a real tournament of the Pro Golf Tour 2022. Entries close on February 14th.

Diedorf/Mönsheim/www - One thing is already certain: never before will so many rounds of golf have been played on the course of Germany's Stuttgart'er Golf-Club Solitude in February and March as in spring 2022. From the white tees it measures 6380 metres, an excellent, selective championship course, with tree-lined fairways and narrow landing zones, with large, ondulated greens and an excellent finale next to the pond at the clubhouse. The next few days are all about practising on this excellent championship course, which is part of TrackMan's online simulation package and the venue for the Pro Golf Tour Virtual Challenge 2022 powered by TRACKMAN.

"We are delighted to be able to offer this indoor tournament to our members and are looking forward to seeing how many participants we can ultimately welcome," says Peter Zäh, the Pro Golf Tour's Managing Director. Members of the Pro Golf Tour, as well as members of national PGAs, i.e. exclusively professionals, can participate; ladies are also welcome, but like the men they will play from the white tees.

Heiko Burkhard, Head Professional of the Stuttgarter Golf-Club Solitude, knows the course very well, both in reality and virtually. His tip: "Full concentration when teeing off! TrackMan's simulation comes very close to our real golf course. However, there are many out of bounds on the simulator than on the real course; this is because whenever the ball lands in the woods in the virtual version, it becomes difficult to continue playing. This is why the tee shot is enormously important, especially on TrackMan."

Because of the large, sometimes heavily ondulated greens, hitting the putting surface on the right side is also very important, and those who have played two or three virtual practice rounds have a clear advantage. It therefore almost goes without saying that the club's professionals will also be there when the Pro Golf Tour visits the course at Stuttgart's GC Solitude for the first time - even if only virtually this season at least. The course record is 65 strokes - in realitas. Burkhard: "In the virtual world, that will be hard to top."

6380 metres, Stimp 9

For all those who want to prepare perfectly: The tournament willö be played from the white tees, the distances are given in metres, the settings for "fairway firmness" and "green firmness" are each set to "medium", the pins are "hard" and the wind will be "calm". From within 2.4 metres, the manually executed putts are given, the green speed in the tournament is at Stimp 9. Those who want to prepare on the spot: Stuttgarter GC Solitude has two indoor facilities with TrackMan equipment, and incidentally, since last year, a complete TrackMan Range, which is definitely worth a visit. And finally, you can download the birdie book of the course here.

The more players participate, the higher the prize money, the size of the field is unlimited. As an example: If 100 players participate, the total prize money is 7000 Euros, of which the champion of the Virtual Challenge 2022 receives about 1167 Euros. 700 euros will go to the runner-up, 467 to number 3, and so on - number 40 will still receive 70 euros. There are no points for the Pro Golf Tour Order of Merit to be won, but lots of fun with indoor golf.

All details on participation are available in the COMPETITOR INFORMATION SHEET.
