Herbolzheim, Germany – One glance at the leaderboard during the final round of The Cuber Open 2026 told the story: blue dominated. Most scores on the challenging par-71 layout at Europa-Park Golfclub Breisgau finished above par. Firm conditions on a tight course, gusty winds and demanding pin positions on fast greens made birdies a rare commodity, even for the tournament's leading players.
The players at the top of the leaderboard were no exception. Tim Tillmanns had started the final round with a two-shot advantage after producing outstanding golf over the opening two days on the course located in the tri-border region of Germany, France and Switzerland, building a small cushion over Dario Antonisse of the Netherlands.
Although not everything went according to plan on Sunday, the 26-year-old managed to hold on to the lead he had held since Tuesday. Tillmanns, who played collegiate golf at Kansas State University and competed on the HotelPlanner Tour in 2024 and 2025, stood at two over par for the day through nine holes before birdies on the par-5 10th and 13th brought him back to even par for the round. At that stage, the current No. 22 in the Order of Merit still enjoyed a comfortable advantage. However, back-to-back bo-geys on holes 15 and 16 brought the chasing pack back into contention.
Two Shots Clear of Soo
The Cologne native held his nerve over the closing stretch, making a par followed by a birdie on the final hole to card a closing 72 (+1) and secure victory by two shots over Estonia's Ken-Marten Soo. Soo produced one of the rounds of the day with a 68 (-3).
"This victory feels really good," said the champion during the winner's interview from the mobile tournament office provided by title sponsor The Cuber. "I knew that if I just played my own game, I'd have a good chance. The difficult part was leading after two rounds and suddenly having something to lose. People expect you to bring that lead home."
For Tillmanns, the win marked an important turning point in what had so far been a diffi-cult season. "After my time on the HotelPlanner Tour, I came back expecting to contend straight away. But this year I've had quite a few problems with my game. That's why I used the last two-week break to sit down with my coaches and take an honest look at where I was."
Less Thinking, More Playing
Working together with his coaching team of Ian Holloway and Stuart Morgan, Tillmanns identified approach shots from 70 to 150 metres as the biggest weakness in his game.
"We worked on that intensively – technically, but also on transferring those changes into tournament play. This week, my game finally felt the way it's supposed to feel again. I was able to swing freely instead of trying to control everything. It's nice when you don't have to think so much on the course and can simply play."
Tillmanns also praised the tournament venue in southwest Germany.
"I really liked the golf course. The views are beautiful, and the greens were outstanding in terms of both speed and quality. The setup was demanding with the firm conditions and challenging pin positions."
The victory moves the German up to ninth place in the Order of Merit. Dario Antonisse extended his lead at the top of the rankings, followed by Kristof Ulenaers (Belgium), Philipp Macionga (Germany), Mauro Gilardi (Switzerland) and Louis Bonte (France).
