Winner Julien Brun: Pure confidence and precision

Open Casa Green Golf 2020

Strong start to the season for Julien Brun: the 27-year-old Frenchman won the Open Casa Green Golf 2020, thus wrapping up his first success on the tour perfectly. He completed the three rounds on the Casa Green Golf and Palmeraie Country Club courses in Casablanca in Morocco with 63, 70 and 68 strokes, and finished 14 under par, two points ahead of Englishman James Wilson (65, 66, 72).

Casablanca/Morocco - “Finally things are looking up! The last few years have been very difficult, but there is a little light on the horizon now!” Julien Brun ecstatically accepted the big Open Casa Green Golf 2020 trophy, lifted it up into the air and laughed into the photographers' cameras. The man from Cagnes-sur-Mer, a town with 50,000 inhabitants on the coast between Nice and Cannes, completed the rounds with impressive consistency in what is now the fourth tournament of the season on the Pro Golf Tour 2020.

On the first day, he conjured up an almost flawless round of 63 strokes at the Palmeraie Country Club, puttied a birdie nine times and had to put up with just one single bogey on hole 18. “I never had any major problems the whole week, played very solidly and hit the ball very well with both my driver and irons,” said the winner. “I changed a lot of things from the middle of last season. I changed my coach, moved to Prague and then decided to play the Pro Golf Tour Qualifying School to be able to participate in the tournaments here in Morocco.”

He finished the Q-School in Paderborn in autumn in 29th place, which enabled him to secure participation in all the Pro Golf Tour 2020 spring events. And it is quite possible that he will play several more tournaments on the Pro Golf Tour: competing in fact on the European Challenge Tour most recently, Brun hopes to receive a few invitations for the 2020 season, but first of all he is definitely going to focus on the Pro Golf Tour. “Both golf courses were in excellent condition, very varied, the fields are strong and everything is well organised,” he summed up positively after the tournaments in Casablanca. “I was able to bring the victory home well in the end and am very happy about this win, which gives me great self-confidence.”

An ace on hole 13

James Wilson from England also boosted his self-confidence, finishing second in Casablanca with a total of 12 under par and shining with flawless rounds on the first two days, even with an ace on hole 13 in round 1. The three Germans Thomas Rosenmüller, Sean Einhaus and Christian Bräunig also have every reason to be satisfied, sharing 3rd place with Swiss Marco Iten with 10 under par each. He managed a sensational round of 62 strokes on the Palmeraie course on the second day. Thomas Rosenmüller and Sean Einhaus recorded the best final rounds out of the entire field with 6 under par each. They all clearly emphasised their title ambitions and excellent spring form with this performance.

They can prove this at the beginning of March at the Royal Golf Anfa Mohammedia: the third Moroccan tournament on the 2020 Pro Golf Tour is scheduled from 4 to 6 March just outside the city of the same name.
